Principal's Message

Happy New Year Roadrunner families!

It has been such an incredible first half of the school year, full of accomplishments, both big and small. Our student achievement remained high and this accomplishment was recognized when we received the California Distinguished School award! The California Dashboard was also updated with our current student scores. Last year, Repetto received the color Blue, the highest level of achievement in English Language Arts (ELA). This year, Repetto again received Blue in ELA! Last year, Repetto received a score of Green (2nd highest level of achievement) in Math. This year, Repetto’s math score advanced to Blue. We are so proud that our students are performing at the highest level in both ELA and Math.

This year has also been full of new, interactive and fun events for our students and families. The annual Halloween Costume Parade included a pumpkin carving contest and a group dance by the 3rd graders. Last month, we hosted a holiday gingerbread house contest with a special appearance by Santa Claus! Our TK-2nd grade students were treated to storytime with Santa. Repetto also launched a new currency system called Beep Bucks where students can earn them and turn them in for prizes at the Speedway Student Store-promoted through our new monthly pep rally assemblies called Roadshows (where exemplary Roadrunners are recognized and their achievements showcased). Our students really enjoy these festivities, which would not have been possible without the help of all of you!

Repetto intends to further improve our student achievement and a positive school climate in 2020. While all teachers continue to collaborate to advance instruction and curriculum to ensure the highest quality of delivery, a group of teacher leaders has been providing professional development that focuses on Reading Progression.

Teachers will take a deep dive into the sub-skills that students will need to attain in order to achieve mastery in all types of texts as they move up in grade levels. Teachers are also participating in Harvard’s Data Wise Improvement Process where they analyze grade level Reading target data and use it to make data-driven decisions on their instruction and lesson design, all of which will better meet our students’ needs.

Lastly, Repetto is excited to continue to host events for our students and community. I would like to invite all families to participate in the lantern contest and to join us on the morning of January 24 for the Lunar New Year celebration with a Lion Dance performance! We will be sending out flyers with detailed information soon. Again, Happy New Year Roadrunners! Together, let’s make 2020 the best year yet!

Sincerely,

Repetto Elementary School

Greetings Roadrunner families!

As many of you may have heard, AUSD School Board has appointed me as the principal of Repetto Elementary School for the 19-20 school year.  I am honored to have the opportunity to work for all of you and I am excited to be a Roadrunner.

I’ve just completed my 16th year as an educator and have been a school administrator for the last 9 years.  I have been principal at Ramona Elementary School for the last 4 years.  There, I took great pride and pleasure working for and supporting my teachers, students, and families.  We had many, many great successes and celebrations over the years as we accomplished shared goals together.

My belief of an effective administrator is one who supports the team.  I am looking forward to learning the shared vision of Repetto and the community it serves and supporting us as we work together on the future accomplishments I have no doubt lay ahead.

Looking forward to a great year at Repetto!

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven J. Suttle
